Palunio is a free color palette generator for websites, brands and creative projects. Start with five colors, explore a harmony, and carry the same palette into contrast checks, UI previews and developer exports.

How to use this palette generator

  1. Choose analogous, complementary, triadic or monochromatic harmony, then generate. Press Space when no form control is focused to explore another option.
  2. Lock the colors you want to keep. Select a swatch to edit its HEX, RGB, HSL or OKLCH value, or copy its HEX directly.
  3. Assign colors to interface roles in UI preview. Test the text/background pairs in the contrast checker before exporting.

Which color harmony should you choose?

Analogous palettes group neighboring hues for a related feel. Complementary palettes use opposing hues for stronger contrast in hue. Triadic palettes spread accents around three hue regions. Monochromatic palettes vary one hue through lightness and chroma. These describe color relationships; none guarantees readable text.

For a website, think about roles before choosing five equally vivid colors. A light surface, dark ink and a limited set of accents give components a useful starting point. The generator reserves pale and dark slots; you can edit every color and role.

Common questions

Can I keep a brand color while generating?

Yes. Edit a swatch to your brand HEX value and lock it. Generate again to replace the unlocked colors. Locked colors stay exact; the first locked swatch anchors the generated hue family. You can also enter a brand HEX directly to build a new palette around it.

Are generated palettes automatically accessible?

No. Accessibility depends on the exact foreground/background pair and its use. Check normal text at 4.5:1 for WCAG AA and review states in your final interface.

Can I use these palettes commercially?

Palunio does not restrict commercial use of the generated color values or exports. Check any separate rights in reference images and brand assets you bring to the tool.
